Pedometers are used to measure the amount of steps you take each day and approximately 5,000 steps taken in a day is a good average. It is surprising how many steps are walked around our homes or workplaces in a day, however, it is better to walk a chunk of steps at one time. Heart Rate Monitors are used to check your heart rate while working out and they also calculate calories burned and allow you to measure yourself against previous workouts so you can check your fitness progress.
